KABUL: Based on the Islamic Emirate’s Supreme Leader’s order a contract worth more than 422 million Afghanis has been signed for the construction of 52 telecommunications towers in border and remote areas of Afghanistan, aimed at expanding network coverage and addressing connectivity challenges.
Enayatullah Alakozai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, said the contract was signed between Mawlavi Abdul Ahad Fazli, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, and Ali Ahmad Samand, head of Afghan Telecom, a state-owned telecommunications company.
According to Alakozai, the towers will be constructed in border areas of Badakhshan, Kunar, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Paktia and Khost provinces.
The ministry said a separate contract had previously been signed for the construction of 31 telecommunications towers in 13 border areas of Kandahar, Helmand, Paktika and Zabul provinces.
