KABUL: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its air defence system detected and destroyed a U.S. MQ-1 unmanned aerial vehicle in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iran’s ISNA news agency, the drone was detected and brought down by the IRGC’s air force using a new air defense system.
The report added that, with this latest incident, Iran’s claimed tally of downed U.S. drones has reached 14 MQ-1 aircraft and 54 MQ-9 drones. These figures are based on Iranian claims.
