Aid organizations should focus on creating job opportunities, Governor of DAB

KABUL: Governor of Da Afghanistan Bank (Country’s Central Bank) Mullah Hedayatullah Badri, in a meeting with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Resident Representative Stephane Rodriquez said:” I hope that aid providers to Afghanistan will focus their assistance on reducing unemployment and creating jobs in Afghanistan,” Bank said in a statement Wednesday.

In the meeting, both sides discussed improving the banking sector, Islamic banking, electronic payments, and financing small enterprises.

Mullah Hedayatullah Badri called the aforementioned issues important for the country’s economic growth and stated that strengthening these sectors is the need of the present era.

Meanwhile, the UNDP Representative praised the achievements of the Central Bank, including the stability of the Afghan currency, inflation control, banking sector management, and economic growth, according to the statement.

He also stressed the cooperation of the organization’s development program in the banking sector, the development of Islamic banking, the financial support of small enterprises, and banking payments.

The Central Bank has prevented the depreciation of the Afghan currency and the rate of inflation in the country by adopting effective monetary policies.
