Iran’s presidential elections voting process concluded

KABUL: The voting process for the Iranian presidential election began on Friday morning and due to the widespread public turnout at the polling centers, despite three extensions, the voting process ended at 12:00 AM, according to Iran’s state-run media outlets report.

Tasnim reported that the process ended at midnight (Friday, June 28) after 18 hours.

“The voting process took place in 58,000 polling stations within the country and 314 polling stations in 100 countries around the world,” the report said.

The total number of participants in the voting process and the level of public participation in the election are still unknown, as well as it is expected that the preliminary results will be announced by the beginning of this Monday after the conclusion of the voting process and the start of vote counting.

The early presidential election in Iran was held following the deaths of Ibrahim Raisi, the country’s president, and Amir-Abdollahian, the foreign minister, in an air incident.

According to the Tasnim report, polling stations were also set up in five provinces of Afghanistan for Iranian citizens to cast their votes.
