KABUL: The Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, in a telephone conversation with his France and British counterparts, has emphasized Iran’s right to punish the Israeli regime.
According to Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated that the Israeli regime had violated Iran’s territorial integrity and sovereignty by targeting Ismail Haniyeh on Iranian soil.
“Iran’s response to this action is its legitimate right, and Tehran will not back down from exercising this definitive right,” he said, adding that Tehran is not seeking war or escalating tensions in the region, but it considers responding to Israel as its responsibility.
Recently, Abbas Araghchi has received a vote of confidence from the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Iran’s parliament) as the new Iranian Foreign Minister.
The French and British Foreign Ministers had contacted Araghchi to congratulate him on his new position.
