KABUL: The number of people reported missing following deadly floods in the border areas of Nepal and China has surpassed 2,400, according to reports.
Agence France-Presse reported that the sharp rise in the number of missing people has heightened concerns that the natural disaster could worsen and that the death toll may increase.
Search-and-rescue operations are continuing to locate missing people and assist those affected by the disaster.
The floods, triggered by the collapse of glaciers and the release of massive volumes of water and debris, have destroyed several villages and infrastructure facilities in Nepal and China’s Tibet region.
Reports say hundreds of people have so far been killed, while thousands of others remain missing.
