KABUL: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says it launched ballistic missile attacks on two U.S. military bases in Jordan in retaliation for a U.S. strike on Iranian military facilities on Larak Island, Reuters reported based on Iranian media.
The bases targeted were identified as King Hussein and Al Azraq in Jordan.
The IRGC said the attack was carried out in response to a U.S. strike on two Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island, located in the Strait of Hormuz. A U.S. official confirmed that American forces had targeted the launchers, saying they were operated by the IRGC and were preparing to deploy sea mines in the strategic waterway.
The exchange marks a further escalation in the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States, with tensions also continuing over the security and movement of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global energy supplies.
