Baradar inaugurates improvement plan for Kabul’s Sanaye Sabz Industrial Park

KABUL: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Islamic Emirate’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, has inaugurated the improvement plan for the Sanaye Sabz Industrial Park in Kabul.

According to a statement from the office of the deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, the industrial park is being developed on 8,200 jeribs of land and some 120 factories are currently operating there, with around $800 million invested in the industrial park.

Speaking at a ceremony marking the launch of the plan, Baradar said Afghanistan could achieve intellectual, political and economic independence only when domestic production, basic infrastructure and scientific capacities are adequately strengthened.

He said the industrial park would create opportunities for hundreds of new manufacturing factories and provide jobs for thousands of Afghan citizens. Baradar also described the establishment of a production center for printing and publishing the Islamic culture of Afghanistan at the industrial park as an important step. He said the center would help meet a major portion of Afghanistan’s domestic demand for paper and reduce reliance on imports
