U.S. Homeland Security Secretary’s handbag stolen with $3000 stolen

WASHINGTON: A thief has stolen the handbag of Kirstjen M. Nielsen, Secretary of Homeland Security, which contained $3,000 in cash and important documents.

CNN reported that the incident occurred during dinner in Washington just a day before yesterday, while a white male took the Secretary’s handbag and exited the restaurant.

Nielsen confirmed the incident and mentioned that the matter has not yet been resolved.

“The thief managed to carry away significant items, including her driver’s license, medication, apartment keys, passport, Homeland Security identification, a makeup kit, blank checks, and approximately $3,000 in cash,” said the report.

The U.S. Secret Service has initiated an investigation to prevent the potential misuse of these items.

When she took office, Secretary Nielsen pledged to combat theft, crime, and terrorism in the U.S.
