KABUL: After Russia’s request for direct talks with Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced Kyiv’s readiness to engage in discussions in any framework with Moscow.
Speaking with the reporters on Tuesday Zelensky emphasized that dialogue is acceptable for Kyiv after establishing a ceasefire to prevent any potential deadlock.
However, he added that he does not expect a swift agreement to be reached soon.
Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin also expressed Moscow’s willingness to negotiate with Kyiv for the first time since the onset of the invasion.
Meanwhile, it is expected that today a Ukrainian delegation will discuss the details of a ceasefire with Western officials in the UK.
