Putin will not travel to Turkey for peace talks

KABUL: The Kremlin has announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will not be traveling to Turkey to participate in peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.

Reuters, citing the Kremlin, reported early today that a high-level delegation, including diplomatic, military, and intelligence officials, will travel to Ankara on behalf of Russia for the talks.

A U.S. official has also stated that Trump does not intend to travel to Turkey.

With the suggestion of the Russian president, a meeting is scheduled to be held between senior officials from Russia, Ukraine, and the U.S. for direct peace discussions in Turkey.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has already departed for Turkey, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously announced that he will be in Turkey on Thursday.

Zelensky had expressed his hope to meet and have direct discussions with Putin in Turkey.
