KABUL: The Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, Mawlavi Abdul Kabir, met with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees representative, Arafat Jamal, to discuss various issues concerning returning refugees in Afghanistan.
According to a statement from the ministry, the discussion focused on providing essential assistance to returning Afghan refugees and removing obstacles in the working sector.
The sources quoted Arfat Jamal as stating that hundreds of tents are being prepared for the returnees to be sent to Kunar soon. He expressed efforts to attract necessary support for Afghan returnees and explore alternative routes for assistance.
Meanwhile, Minister Abdul Kabir mentioned that with the arrival of winter, the Islamic Emirate has begun providing cash assistance along with food supplies to returnees. He emphasized that the international community should not tie humanitarian aid to political issues.
It is noteworthy that this year has seen an unprecedented increase in the forced return of Afghan refugees from Iran and Pakistan.
