KABUL: The country’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations said in a statement on Thursday that 214 Afghan nationals have recently been released from Pakistani prisons and returned to Afghanistan.
According to the statement, the individuals had spent between 1 and 60 days in detention in Pakistan before being freed.
The returnees entered Afghanistan this week through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province, the statement said, adding that they were registered upon arrival and provided assistance before being transported to their home regions.
The statement comes a day after nearly 4,000 Afghan migrants were forcibly deported from Pakistan and sent back to Afghanistan, amid an ongoing crackdown on undocumented foreigners.
