KABUL: A three-member delegation from Pakistan, led by Maulana Fazlur Rahman Khalil, has arrived in Kabul as tensions continue between Afghanistan and Pakistan, credible sources told Radio Omid.
The sources said the delegation arrived in the Afghan capital on Tuesday for an official visit and is expected to hold meetings with Afghan officials.
The visit reportedly aims to explore ways to reduce recent tensions between Kabul and Islamabad and assess possible solutions to ongoing disputes.
According to the sources, the delegation also includes Maulana Abdullah Shah Mazhar and Maulana Sajjad Usman.
Political analysts say the arrival of the delegation may indicate that Islamabad is seeking diplomatic options after suffering significant losses during recent clashes.
They claim Pakistan has faced heavy casualties and financial damage during the Afghan forces’ recent military operations, known as “Radd al-Zulm,” and retaliatory strikes along the border.
Earlier, Afghan Defense Minister Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid said in an interview that Pakistan’s military leadership has historically avoided genuine negotiations and tends to turn to dialogue only after experiencing difficult situations on the battlefield.
