Iran’s Qalibaf says U.S. plotting Island seizure with regional ally

KABUL: Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, speaker of Iran’s parliament, said the United States is conspiring with a regional country to seize one of Iran’s islands.

In a post on X on Wednesday, Qalibaf warned that Tehran is closely monitoring what he described as “enemy movements” and would respond forcefully to any attempt to occupy its territory.

He added that Iran would target the critical infrastructure of the country involved “without limitation” if such steps were carried out.

Meanwhile, Tasnim News Agency reported that in the event of an attack in southern Iran, Ansar Allah could open a new front in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Iranian officials’ warnings come as reports indicate additional U.S. naval forces may soon be deployed to the region.
