KABUL: Widespread protests have broken out across the United States against the policies of President Donald Trump, with demonstrators rallying under the slogan “No King.”
According to Reuters on Saturday night, protests were held in all 50 states, with more than 3,200 events planned nationwide.
Rising living costs, immigration measures, and the U.S. conflict involving Iran were among the main reasons behind the demonstrations.
One of the largest gatherings took place in Minnesota, where strict immigration policies have been implemented.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Senator Bernie Sanders, prominent Democratic figures — were among the main speakers at the rally in that state.
Walz said: “They call us radical. Yes, we have become radical— radical for compassion, radical for decency, radical for due process, radical for democracy, and radical because we will do everything in our power to oppose authoritarianism.”
Senator Sanders also said that the U.S. and Israel’s war against Iran is “illegal,” arguing that one sovereign country cannot attack another sovereign country for any reason it chooses.
Large nationwide protests against Donald Trump’s policies also took place last year; it remains to be seen whether this year’s demonstrations will lead to any change in the Trump administration’s approach.”
