KABUL: Indian media reports that the U.S. Congressional Research Service has recently reported that armed groups threatening Indian interests remain active in Pakistan and continue to plan attacks.
India Today published a story this morning citing the Congressional Research Service report, which examines “details of terrorist activity in South Asia,” states that groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed are presently operating from within Pakistani territory and organizing operations against India from there.
According to the report’s authors, these groups have not only preserved their infrastructure but also remain capable of recruiting personnel, training them, and securing funding to sustain their activities.
The report says these groups specifically target India and are attempting cross-border attacks to carry out violent and destabilizing operations. The United States calls on the Pakistani government to take decisive and effective measures against these groups and to ensure that Pakistani soil is not used to launch attacks on other countries.
The findings come amid already tense relations between India and Pakistan over the alleged activities of these groups.
