Trump says he wants to “take Iran’s oil,” cites multiple options

KABUL: U.S. President Donald Trump has said he would prefer to “take Iran’s oil” as part of Washington’s strategy toward Iran, according to an interview reported by NBC News.
Speaking to the Financial Times, Trump said he was interested in securing Iran’s oil resources, adding that critics in the United States have questioned the idea.
“Maybe we take Kharg Island, maybe we don’t. We have many options,” he said, referring to Kharg Island, a key Iranian oil export terminal.
Trump did not provide details on how such a plan would be implemented, but suggested it could involve a temporary U.S. presence in the area.
The remarks come as U.S. military deployments to the Middle East continue and tensions with Iran remain high.
Iranian officials have previously dismissed Trump’s statements, warning of strong retaliation if U.S. forces enter the country.
