Iran says compensation, guarantees key to ending war with U.S. and Israel

KABUL: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Dr Sayed Abbas Araghchi said that guarantees against renewed attacks and the payment of compensation are key conditions for ending the conflict with the United States and Israel.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Araghchi said Tehran has not yet responded to the United States’ proposals to end the war.
He stressed that Iran is not only seeking an end to fighting within its borders but also a broader halt to hostilities across the region.
“Current contacts between the sides do not constitute negotiations,” Araghchi said, adding that communications are limited to message exchanges, either directly or through regional intermediaries, often involving warnings and mutual positions.
He also said Iran’s armed forces are fully prepared for a potential ground confrontation, while expressing hope that opposing sides would avoid miscalculations.
The remarks come as U.S. President Donald Trump recently said Tehran does not need to reach an agreement with Washington to bring the war to an end.
