Zelenskyy, Erdoğan agree on security cooperation during Istanbul meeting

KABUL: Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan have agreed to expand security cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey following talks in Istanbul.
Zelenskyy said in a post on X that the agreement covers collaboration in expertise, technology, and experience, with Kyiv expecting to support Ankara in these areas.
He added: “We also discussed practical steps for joint projects, including the development of gas infrastructure and opportunities for joint development of gas fields. Our Teams will share finalized details in the coming days.”
Zelenskyy thanked Erdoğan for Turkey’s continued support for Ukraine’s “independence and territorial integrity,” and described bilateral cooperation as valuable.
Turkey has maintained a balancing role during the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and previously hosted talks between representatives of the two sides.
