KABUL: Afghan defense forces have rescued passengers from six stranded vehicles on the Ghor–Herat highway after they became stuck in mud caused by recent heavy rains.
According to a video statement from the 207th Al-Farooq Army Corps, the operation took place late Sunday in the Kaminj area of Shahrak district in Ghor province.
Passengers and drivers of both passenger and cargo vehicles had been trapped in muddy conditions along the highway linking Herat province and Ghor.
The statement said the Afghan forces acted promptly to free the vehicles, allowing them to resume their journey safely.
Footage released by the corps showed rescued drivers expressing appreciation for the timely assistance.
Afghan security and defense forces have carried out multiple rescue operations, saving hundreds of people stranded by floods in the past two weeks across the country.
