Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan aim to boost trade to $1 billion

KABUL: Afghan and Kyrgyz officials have emphasized increasing bilateral trade to $1 billion during a high-level meeting in Afghanistan.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Nooruddin Azizi, Afghanistan’s Minister of Industry and Commerce, met with Kairat Tursunkulov, Kyrgyzstan’s deputy foreign minister, here in Kabul, where Turdakun Sydykov, Kyrgyzstan’s ambassador to Kabul, was also present.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the growing level of trade and stressed the importance of expanding it to reach $1 billion annually.
Azizi highlighted ongoing construction projects in Kyrgyzstan and called for the involvement of Afghan companies and labor in these projects.
Tursunkulov described Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan as “brotherly nations” with strong cultural ties and invited Azizi to visit Kyrgyzstan to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.
The Kyrgyz delegation is currently in Kabul to participate in the Afghanistan–Central Asia consultative dialogue, aimed at enhancing regional cooperation.
