KABUL: Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, head of Iran’s negotiating delegation in the Islamabad talks, said the United States understood Tehran’s logic and principles but failed to gain its trust.
Speaking after returning from Islamabad to Tehran, he stated today that it is now up to Washington to decide whether it can win Iran’s confidence.
He added that Iran presented “forward-looking initiatives” during the talks and emphasized that Tehran views diplomacy from a position of strength alongside military resistance.
Qalibaf reiterated that while Iran is committed to diplomacy, it remains deeply skeptical of U.S. intentions.
The 21-hour talks, mediated by Pakistan, ended without an agreement.
