China urges diplomacy after U.S.-Iran talks in Islamabad

KABUL: China has called for resolving tensions between the United States and Iran through diplomacy, warning against any escalation of conflict following recent talks in Islamabad.
In a statement, a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, on Monday, said Beijing stressed the importance of maintaining the current ceasefire between Tehran and Washington.
The ministry described the Islamabad talks as a step toward reducing tensions and said conditions should be created to enable a swift return to peace in the Gulf region.
China reiterated that disputes should be settled through dialogue rather than reigniting war.
The remarks come amid reports in Western media suggesting that China may be preparing to supply Iran with air defense systems, though Beijing has not confirmed such claims.
