KABUL: The U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee’s top Democrat, Mark Warner, has said he expects the Senate to consider and potentially confirm President Donald Trump’s nominee for Director of National Intelligence (DNI) later this week.
According to CBS, Trump has nominated Jay Clayton for the position and has urged senators to move quickly on the confirmation process.
Warner stated that Clayton is a qualified candidate and expressed hope that, if the Senate agrees, the confirmation process could be completed within the week.
The nomination comes amid ongoing disagreements in Congress over intelligence leadership and delays surrounding key intelligence oversight legislation.
