KABUL: The preliminary agreement announced by Donald Trump to end the conflict between the United States and Iran has sparked widespread concern and criticism in Israel.
According to The New York Times, citing Israeli officials and analysts, the proposed agreement does not align with several of Israel’s key strategic objectives during the conflict.
The report says Israel had sought stronger guarantees to curb Iran’s nuclear and military capabilities and to reduce Tehran’s support for armed groups across the region. However, critics argue that the current framework does not provide clear assurances that those goals will be achieved.
Some Israeli political and security figures have expressed concern that the agreement could give Iran an opportunity to regroup and continue its strategic programs, while leaving Israel to face many of the same security challenges.
