KABUL: U.S. Vice President JD Vance has warned Iran that if tensions continue to escalate, the United States will respond to any Iranian military action with a reciprocal response, stating that Tehran will face “violence” if it resorts to further military measures.
In a post published on his X account on Tuesday, Vance said that Iran had signed the ceasefire agreement and that the United States remains committed to it.
He added that if there are disagreements over the implementation of the agreement, they should be resolved through communication, but emphasized that “violence will be met with violence.”
The warning comes after the United States accused Iran of being responsible for an attack on a commercial vessel in the Strait of Hormuz.
Washington claims that Iran used drones in the attack and described the incident as a violation of the ceasefire agreement.
Meanwhile, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had carried out airstrikes against Iranian missile storage sites, drone stockpiles, and coastal radar facilities.
On the other hand, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that it had resisted the U.S. attacks and, in response, targeted American military facilities in the region. However, the IRGC did not provide further details regarding the locations of the attacks or the extent of any damage inflicted.
