KABUL: Mahmood Khan Achakzai, a Pakistani opposition leader, has called on the government to end hostility with Afghanistan, Pakistani media reported.
Achakzai made the remarks at a meeting of opposition parties hosted by Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of Pakistan’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.
He urged the Pakistani government to provide evidence if it believes Afghanistan is pursuing a hostile policy toward Pakistan.
Achakzai also called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to explain the country’s recent defense agreement with Saudi Arabia and Turkey to the Pakistani public. He further suggested that Iran and Egypt could join the agreement, arguing that this could lead to the formation of an Islamic force.
