KABUL: More than 800 teachers have been martyred and around 3,300 others injured in Israeli attacks since October 2023, the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education said.
In a statement issued on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, the ministry said 170 teachers had also been detained by Israeli forces under what it described as harsh conditions during the same period.
The Palestinian Education Ministry called on the international community, the United Nations and educational, human rights and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to prevent what it described as ongoing Israeli violations against the Palestinian education sector.
The ministry stressed that necessary measures should be taken to ensure the safety and protection of teachers, education workers and students.
