KABUL: The Central Bank of Afghanistan said in a statement that over 8.4 million wourn out Afghani banknotes were set on fire in the northern region of the country.
According to the statement, the old banknotes were collected from markets in the northern provinces and burned in the presence of a committee.
The Central Bank emphasized its ongoing efforts to remove worn-out and uncirculated currency from the country’s economy.
According to the statement, citizens can exchange old banknotes for new ones at the bank’s branches.
The preservation and maintenance of currency is a national responsibility that can significantly aid Afghanistan’s economy.
