Tehran: Afghan migrants to be returned dignifiedly

KABUL: Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, stated that Afghan migrants will be gradually and dignifiedly returned to Afghanistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate said in a statement on Saturday.

During a meeting with Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, who visited Tehran, discussions were held regarding bilateral relations, security issues, water resources, and migrant challenges.

The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of relations between the two countries and highlighted the need to expand cooperation in various sectors, calling for improving diplomatic ties.

Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi expressed gratitude for Tehran’s hosting of Afghan migrants and mentioned that the Islamic Emirate has plans for the return and resettlement of all migrants within the country.

Dr. Araghchi also noted that both countries are making step-by-step progress in a new phase of bilateral relations, with their ties expanding. Notably, the acting Foreign Minister arrived in Tehran yesterday at the head of a delegation for an official visit.
