CENTCOM: More than 3,000 commercial ships have crossed Strait of Hormuz

KABUL: The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) says more than 3,000 commercial vessels have crossed the Strait of Hormuz with support from its forces over the past six months.

CENTCOM said more than 1.5 billion barrels of crude oil have been transported through the strategic waterway during the period, while more than 95% of the vessels crossed safely.

The command also said its forces had cleared Iranian naval mines from key shipping routes in the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian officials have not recently responded to the U.S. claims. However, they have previously said that no vessel can pass through the waterway without permission from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
