KABUL: The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Shaikh-ul-Hadith Mawlavi Hebatullah Akhundzada, stated that the prohibition of the cultivation, production, trafficking, and use of drugs in the country is not for achieving privilege from the East or the West.
He made the remarks today, during the Eid al-Adha prayer ceremony in Kandahar city.
He explained that the drug prohibition has been implemented because it contradicts the teachings of Islam and is harmful to society and its individuals.
He urged farmers and drug traffickers to refrain from cultivating, producing, and trafficking drugs for the sake of God.
Addressing the citizens, he emphasized that the fight against drugs is not solely the responsibility of the government but also of scholars and the public.
Amir al-Mu’minin questioned who could bear the responsibility before God for an individual’s addiction to drugs.
After the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, all forms of drug cultivation, production, trafficking, and use have been banned in the country.
