KANDAHAR: Construction work on a small dam worth 27 million Afghanis has begun in the Arghandab district of Kandahar province.
According to local sources, the dam is being built with the financial support of local residents to combat drought and irrigate farmland.
The construction of the dam is expected to enhance agricultural productivity in the district, leading to increased harvests.
Moreover, a number of residents of Arghandab expressed their happiness about the dam, noting that it will benefit approximately 10,000 families.
Previously, dozens of small and large dams have been constructed and put into operation in various provinces of Afghanistan.
Currently, such dams are considered beneficial for controlling floodwaters, raising groundwater levels, and preventing drought.
