Azerbaijan resumes its diplomatic affairs in Kabul

KABUL: The ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Mammadov, in a meeting with the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, presented his country’s official letter on the opening of their embassy in Kabul.

In the meeting, both sides discussed initiating diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and Azerbaijan, fostering economic cooperation, and various other topics, Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Abdul Qahar Balkhi wrote on his X account today.

Minister Muttaqi called the opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Kabul, along with the appointment of an ambassador-level diplomat, as a good step towards developing bilateral relations.

Furthermore, Muttaqi expressed the desire of the Islamic Emirate to enhance the level of diplomatic presence in the Afghan Embassy located in Baku.

Meanwhile, Mammadov reiterated Azerbaijan’s respect for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and independence, emphasizing that Azerbaijan does not interfere in Afghanistan’s internal affairs.

With each passing day, diplomatic relations between the Islamic Emirate and various countries around the world are expanding.
