KABUL: The Ministry of Public Works said in a statement on Wednesday that a delegation led by Mawlavi Mohammad Ishaq Sahibzada, the Deputy Minister for Railways, in an official trip has left for China.
The delegation will participate in the 12th International Railway Union (UIC) Congress, which will be hosted by China.
According to the statement, the congress will be organized into three parts: public sessions, round tables, and working meetings.
Around 3,000 high-ranking government officials, railway specialists, researchers, and representatives from leading companies in the industry from various countries will participate in this important meeting to discuss and exchange ideas.
Topics on the agenda will include railway growth, the development of transport through railways, technical innovations, capacity building, attracting new investors, and reviewing the latest technological advancements in the railway sector.
The Afghan delegation is attending this international congress as Afghanistan has made advancements in expanding its railway lines over the past four years, with significant projects including the Mazar-i-Sharif–Herat and Herat–Kandahar railway lines currently underway.
