Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani welcomes progress on Afghan-Trans railway project

KABUL: Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, the acting Minister of Interior Affairs, has welcomed the progress in the Afghan-Trans railway project during a meeting with Bakhtiyar Saidov, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior Affairs today, in the meeting, the two sides discussed the enhancement of bilateral relations between Kabul and Tashkent.

Haqqani expressed hope that the Afghan-Trans railway project would serve as an important step towards economic growth.

Meanwhile, Bakhtiyar Saidov provided details about the trilateral meetings and agreements among Kabul, Tashkent, and Islamabad concerning the project.

He expressed satisfaction with the progress of this significant regional initiative.

The Afghan-Trans railway is a trilateral regional project involving Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, designed to connect Central Asia to South Asia.
