Australia and New Zealand to recognize Palestine next month

KABUL: Senior officials from Australia and New Zealand have announced their intention to officially recognize Palestine, Reuters reported today.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of Australia and Foreign Minister Winston Peters of New Zealand stated that they will recognize Palestine at the 80th United Nations General Assembly in September.
Albanese noted that Australia aims to recognize the Palestinian government during the assembly to support international efforts for a two-state solution, a ceasefire in Gaza, and the release of hostages.
Meanwhile, Peters indicated that New Zealand is currently reviewing its recognition of Palestine, with an announcement expected next month at the UN General Assembly.
The recognition of Palestine by countries around the world has been growing, increasing political pressure on Israel.
Previously, the United Kingdom, France, and Canada also announced their plans to recognize Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly.
