KABUL: Pakistani media reports indicate a significant increase in trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as Central Asian countries, in the current year (2025), compared to the previous year.
The Express Tribune, a prominent Pakistani newspaper, reported this increase today, that Afghanistan remains Pakistan’s largest trading partner with imports valued at $1.39 billion, followed by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan.
The trade volume between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as well as with Central Asian countries, has reached $2.4 billion this year, up from $1.92 billion in the previous year. Of this, Pakistan exported goods worth $1.77 billion to these countries and imported goods valued at $641 million.
Statistics from 2024 show that Pakistan exported $1.34 billion and imported $581 million from Afghanistan and Central Asian nations.
After Afghanistan, Kazakhstan ranks second with $250.8 million in trade, followed by Uzbekistan, which has $91.4 million in exports and $20.3 million in imports.
