KABUL: Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has once again criticized rising crime rates in Chicago, claiming that security in Afghanistan is better than that of the U.S. city.
According to a report from Yahoo News, Trump made this statement during a conversation with reporters on Monday night in Kabul time.
The President stated, “Chicago looks like a war zone, and I hear the governor and mayor say they have the situation under control; but they do not—especially regarding gun violence. It is likely worse than any other city in the world. You could go to Afghanistan or other places, and they would be astonished by the crime rate here.”
Previously, on September 13, he had also remarked that security conditions in Afghanistan were better than in Chicago.
This comes amid comments from U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristjen Nielsen, who noted that Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Chicago have no place to sit and eat lunch.
Chicago is the third-largest city in the U.S., located in Illinois, and according to Trump’s statements, crime statistics in the city have reached alarming levels.
