KABUL: The commencement of pomegranate exports from Afghanistan to Russia has generated reactions within the country, with Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), describing it as a “significant economic step.”
In a post on his X account, Mujahid emphasized that the start of pomegranate exports to Russia will create a large and new market for Afghan pomegranates.
According to him, this move could play a crucial role in boosting the country’s exports.
Mujahid added that expanding the export of fresh fruits from Afghanistan, especially pomegranates, will increase the income of farmers and producers and strengthen the national economy.
This comes as the first shipment of Afghan pomegranates was dispatched to Russia yesterday.
It is expected that 250 tons of Afghan pomegranates will be exported to Russia this year.
