KABUL: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, urged the international community to lift sanctions and pressures on the Islamic Emirate while speaking at the inauguration of a commercial market in Balkh.
Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, the deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate, said in a statement today that Mullah Baradar stated a prosperous and powerful Afghanistan would not be detrimental to other countries and would instead contribute to their well-being and strengthening.
He emphasized that the world should adopt a soft economic relations with Afghanistan and noted that the Islamic Emirate believes in comprehensive regional and international partnerships, provided there is mutual respect for fundamental values and principles.
According to the statement, Mullah Baradar added that partnerships in the public and private sectors, as well as other long-term projects with the private sector, demonstrate that opportunities for both domestic and foreign investment are available.
The eight-story commercial market, built on 600 square meters of land owned by the Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs with an investment of 743 million Afghanis, will include 870 shops, 4 restaurants, a hotel, a mosque, and vehicle parking.
The market is expected to be completed within two years, with an annual rental income of 43 million Afghanis to be deposited into the government’s treasury.
