Afghanistan exports 22,000 tons of medicinal plants worth $ 24 million

HERAT: The Herat provincial officials said that during the first nine months of this year (1404), 22,000 tons of medicinal plants valued at $24 million have been exported to various countries.

The media office of the Herat governor said in a statement, indicating that Afghanistan’s medicinal plants were exported through this province.

The statement noted that valuable medicinal plants from Afghanistan have been sent to countries such as Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, and the United States.

According to the statement, the medicinal plant exports have tripled this year compared to last year.

The exported medicinal plants include items such as “barberry, black cumin, green cumin, licorice, ginger, cinnamon, thyme,” and several other plants.

The statement also mentioned that the local administration in Herat is committed to supporting farmers, traders, and exporters of medicinal plants, improving export processes, marketing agricultural products, and expanding access to international markets.

It is important to note that Afghanistan is rich in valuable medicinal herbs, and the Ministry of Public Health has intensified efforts to promote traditional medicine and utilize this valuable resource.
