Suhail Shaheen: Indian citizenship law should be applied to all religious minorities

KABUL: The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan Permanent Rep-designated to the UN and Head of Political Office in Doha, Suhail Shaheen, in defending Muslims’ rights asked for the new Indian Citizenship Act to include all religious minorities living in the country.

In an interview with the Indian Wire outlet, Suhail Shaheen said that the new Citizenship Act in India should be applied without any discrimination to all citizens of the country, including religious minorities.

Pointing to Indian citizens [Sikh] in Afghanistan living freely said they are not subjected to any harassment or persecution.

The new Indian Citizenship Act, which was passed in 2019, has recently been implemented.

This law is called anti-Muslim because it excludes Muslims.

India has recently adopted anti-Muslim policies, such as the destruction of mosques, including historic Muslim mosques, and turning it into a Hindu temple.
