KABUL: A 31-year-old Afghan man has been arrested on suspicion of carrying out a knife attack that left three people injured in Germany, Western media reported.
London-based broadcaster LBC said late Monday that the suspect was detained following the incident.
According to reports, the man allegedly attacked three German men aged 68, 55, and 51 at the central train station in the city of Würzburg, located in the state of Bavaria.
A spokesperson for Bavarian police said several passersby, including an off-duty police officer intervened quickly and managed to overpower the suspect. Authorities confirmed that the victims’ injuries were not life-threatening.
Police said the motive behind the attack remains unclear and investigations are ongoing.
In recent years, several Afghan nationals have also been detained in Germany and other Western countries on similar allegations.
