KABUL: Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Iran’s special envoy for Afghanistan, and Pakistan envoy Mohammad Sadiq Khan held talks on developments related to Afghanistan, Pakistani officials said on Wednesday.
Khan said in a statement on his X, they exchanged views on efforts to combat terrorism as well as on strengthening trade, regional connectivity and economic ties in the region.
No further details were provided regarding the specific issues discussed.
The talks come amid rising tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan following Pakistani airstrikes in parts of Nangarhar and Paktika provinces.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei expressed concern over escalating tensions along the disputed Durand Line and said Tehran would seek to prevent further escalation between Kabul and Islamabad.
