IEA spokesman says Afghanistan is ready to defend itself if war imposed

KABUL: The spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlavi Zabihullah Mujahid, says defending Afghanistan is the legitimate right of the government and that the country is prepared if conflict is forced upon it.

In an interview with TOLOnews, Mujahid said the Islamic Emirate does not seek war but is ready to defend the country if necessary.

“We do not want war,” he said, adding that the government has extensive experience in conflict, strong public motivation, and capable military forces if fighting is imposed.

Mujahid accused elements within the government of Pakistan of deliberately targeting Afghan civilians since the start of recent tensions, claiming no military installations had been damaged so far.

He also alleged that a specific group within Pakistan’s leadership had been tasked by external actors to destabilize the region and claimed the group had taken on a project backed by the United States.

According to Mujahid, Pakistan itself has suffered significant losses due to its policies, saying more than 300 soldiers had been killed and around 400 others wounded in recent incidents.

Despite the tensions, he said the Islamic Emirate remains committed to diplomacy, though he expressed doubt about the other side’s willingness to honor its commitments.
