JALALABAD: At least four people were martyred and one was injured in a traffic accident in Nangarhar province, local officials said.
Sayed Tayeb Hamad, spokesperson for the provincial police, said the crash occurred after a Suzuki-type vehicle veered off the road and hit a tree in the Qala-e-Shinwari Barikaab area of Batikot district.
He called the cause of the accident excessive speed and loss of control.
Health officials described the condition of the injured person as critical.
Traffic accidents remain a frequent cause of casualties across the country.
