KABUL: The United States has proposed a 48-hour ceasefire to Iran amid escalating conflict involving Israel, Iranian state-affiliated media reported.
According to Fars News Agency, citing an informed source, Washington proposed on Thursday. The report claims Iran did not respond in writing but instead replied by intensifying its military operations.
The report adds that the proposal followed growing regional tensions and what it described as challenges faced by U.S. forces after underestimating Iran’s military capabilities.
Fars also said U.S. diplomatic efforts to halt the fighting increased, particularly after a military storage facility used by American forces on Bubiyan Island in Kuwait was targeted.
There has been no immediate response from U.S. officials regarding the reported ceasefire proposal.
Meanwhile, officials from both the United States and Iran have acknowledged mediation efforts by Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan aimed at ending the conflict.
