KABUL: Iranian state media have reported that the country’s air defenses may have shot down additional U.S. military aircraft, including an A-10 fighter jet over the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Tasnim News Agency, the incident allegedly occurred late Friday, with Iranian air defense forces targeting and downing the aircraft over strategic waters.
The report also cited unnamed sources claiming that several warplanes were flying over Iran, including near Tehran, before coming under fire from Iranian defense systems.
Footage circulating online purportedly shows Iranian police firing at U.S. helicopters attempting to rescue the pilot of a downed aircraft.
However, there has been no official confirmation from independent or U.S. sources regarding the reported incidents.
Earlier, Iranian authorities had claimed the downing of a U.S. F-15E Strike Eagle, with one crew member reportedly rescued while the fate of another remains unknown.
